An entry dedicated to daddy...

Happy Birthday to my daddy today!!!

have always had to celebrate Father's Day & my dad's bdae together esp in those yrs when his bdae happens to fall on the 3rd sunday of June.. sigh yet another year that i'm not home to celebrate with the family.. so saddening.. & it looks like this will be the case for quite a few more yrs, assuming i study on pursuing other degrees...

dad turns 56 today.. offically a 'senior citizen' just as he has taken to calling himself these (in a teasing way) last few years. he called me just last nite saying that mum was planning a 'surprise' dinner for him, with his friends all coming to the house, but she unfortunately had to tell him to make sure he stayed at home! hehe.. cuz he actually wanted to go for his weekly taichi lessons. so, alas, no more surprise! hehe.. but what really perked me up was him telling me that this yr onwards he has resolved to be happy in all things, & to not let minor issues bog him down like they used to.. that i really am happy to hear.. cuz honestly, things in my house have gotten really heated up between the parents, & they no longer try to supress their fighting infront of us kids now that we've all grown up. sigh.. with God's blessing and with His love covering us, there will be a difference in this family i know... & by faith i claim the promises he has given me regarding my family.. & i know the time is soon! =D

this hol i'm going with dad & his team to Batam to help out with the dental/medical work they do over there.. it should be quite fun *i hope!* & a good time for us to be together.. growing up i always (& honestly still do) feel jealous of my sister cuz my dad so obviously loves her more.. even thou he always denys it, it just is very obvious to my bro & i. so i guess this trip will be a good chance for us to get together & spend time with each other... erm unless my sis is going also, which i dun mind actually.. den i won't really be the only 'younger person' among the 'oldies' i.e. my dad & his friends! hehe.. =D

I've got hearfelt words to tell him, but its hard to say to his face, not just because of the culture i've been brought up in, but more so because it involves talking about God.. hmm so i'll type it up here, thou i dun tink he'll actually get to read it...
(unless jie you show him!!!! & don't u dare! cuz i dunno how he'll react!!! =/)

"Papa,

thank you for all your love & care, & even thank you for all the nagging & scolding you've given me for the past 20 years.. each year as i grow & mature, i understand more about how u parent me, & i do appreciate all the sacrifices that u've made for me.

Many times i feel really sad when u quarrel with mummy over the smallest things, & when i hear the loud shouts & banging sounds, i shut myself in my room & pray.. because only God can make a difference in this household. Papa, i'm earnestly praying everyday for you to turn back to the Lord, for i know that if u do, the peace that only He provides will fill your heart, and there will be peace in the house too, esp when Mummy is also softening towards the Lord.. You were once in His arms, but you turned away & i dunno why.. but He still waits outside the door for you to open it & come back to him..

Pa, i love you very much & as you grow 1 year older, i pray for God's blessings to continue to pour out over your life, & i pray that He strengthens your health, mind & spirit, & that He will watch over this family & teach us to love & cherish one another even more.

Happy Birthday & Happy Father's Day!

Your loving daughter,

Vivien"
